TRIPOLI (Afrobasket 2009) - Cape Verde playmaker, Jeffery Xavier once again proved that he is not in short supply of basket when he fired 38 and 5 assists to power his country past Peoples Republic of Congo by 100-63 points in a classification game at the Africa Union Hall in Tripoli.
The Cape Verdean led their opponent from the start of the end to the end winning in all quarters, 19-15, 14-12, 33-10 and 34-26 to set up a game against Mozambique who manages a 69-67 point’s victory over South Africa.
Xavier teammate and 2007 championship revelation Marques Houtman contributed 10 points to the Cape Verde course.
Congo Serge Koumba scored 18 points and 8 rebounds while Bertrand Boukinda added 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds and offered 4 assists.
